This policy explains how DARA Audio LLC (“DARA Audio,” “we,” “us”) handles personal information through DARA, daraaudio.com, purchases, licensing, updates, and support. DARA Audio is responsible for the processing described here. Checkout providers have separate responsibilities described below.
Information involved
- Website delivery. Our hosting and security provider processes request data needed to load and protect the site, such as IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, date and time, and security events. We do not run advertising or audience analytics on the site.
- Purchases. We receive transaction information such as your email address, order number, product, amount, currency, tax, country, and payment, refund, or dispute status. The payment provider and merchant of record identified at checkout collect the name, billing, and payment details needed for the transaction. DARA Audio does not receive or store full card numbers.
- Licensing. DARA sends the license key, a one-way device identifier, a generic device label, platform and version information, installation and license identifiers, and activation or device status. Raw Windows machine and account identifiers used to create the one-way identifier are not sent to us. We use this information to manage the two-device license, apply disclosed activation limits, and prevent misuse.
- Updates and service health. DARA checks for updates after launch. The request includes the release channel, DARA, engine, and driver versions, updater protocol, Windows build, diagnostic-sharing state, response status, and ordinary network data. The service records an aggregate daily heartbeat, request count, version and operating-system information, and when that installation group was last seen.
- Support. We receive the messages, contact details, order information, and files you choose to send. A diagnostic file or crash dump may contain technical information about the computer, running processes, DARA state, file paths, or data held in memory. Review files before sending them.
We obtain this information from you, from DARA on your device, from our service providers, and from the transaction and license records created when those services are used.
Audio and diagnostics
DARA processes audio locally on your computer. It does not record or send that audio to us. Scene contents, plugin settings, file names, app names, and audio-device names are not sent automatically. Third-party plugins may have their own network and privacy behavior.
Production builds do not automatically send feature-use events or crash reports. Windows keeps a limited number of DARA crash dumps on your computer. They remain local unless you choose to send one to support, and DARA removes dumps older than 14 days during a later launch.
Why we use information
We use personal information to:
- complete purchases, delivery, refunds, and transaction support;
- issue licenses, activate devices, provide updates, and enforce license terms;
- answer support requests and troubleshoot information you choose to provide;
- secure the site and services, detect fraud or abuse, and resolve disputes; and
- meet legal, tax, accounting, recordkeeping, and enforcement obligations.
Where a law requires a legal basis, these activities rely on performance of our contract with you, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating, supporting, and protecting DARA.
When information is disclosed
- Payment provider and merchant of record. When online sales open, checkout will identify the companies that handle payment, tax, receipts, fraud screening, disputes, transaction support, and refunds. Their privacy terms apply to their handling of information.
- Service providers. Providers may host and protect the site and license service, deliver email, or support customer requests on our behalf. They process the information needed to perform those services and meet their legal obligations.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
- Business changes. Information may be disclosed as part of a financing, reorganization, acquisition, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality and applicable law.
DARA Audio does not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising.
Retention
- Purchase and license records are kept for the life of the license and afterward as needed for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, disputes, legal compliance, and enforcement.
- Activation, update, website-security, and service records are kept only as long as reasonably needed to operate and secure the service, diagnose failures, enforce limits, and meet legal obligations. The period depends on the record and the risk it addresses.
- Support messages and files are kept while needed to answer and document the request, resolve disputes, protect the service, and meet legal obligations.
- Website demo preferences remain in your browser until you clear site data. Local crash dumps follow the 14-day behavior described above.
When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it where reasonably practicable.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information and service. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Keep your license key private, install authentic DARA releases, and send support files only when needed.
International processing
DARA Audio is based in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, whose laws may differ from those where you live. Contact us for information about the locations and safeguards applicable to DARA-controlled information. A provider's privacy terms describe its own international processing.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information; object to or restrict processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a denied request. You may also have rights concerning sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, although DARA Audio does not engage in those activities.
Email support@daraaudio.com to make a request. State the right you want to exercise and provide enough information to locate the relevant record. We may verify your identity or an authorized agent's authority. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any lawful reason we cannot fulfill a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
You may complain to the privacy or data-protection authority where you live or work. We would also appreciate the chance to address the concern directly.
Automated controls
Activation requests are checked automatically against the device and activation limits. Contact support if a result looks wrong. DARA does not use personal information for advertising profiles.
Website choices and signals
daraaudio.com does not use analytics or advertising cookies. The interactive demo stores its interface preferences and sample scene choices in your browser; we do not receive those choices. You can remove them by clearing site data. The demo's Reset control restores the sample mixer and scenes without erasing unrelated site data.
daraaudio.com does not collect activity over time across other websites. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals therefore do not change how this site behaves. Checkout providers process information separately under the privacy terms shown with the transaction.
Children
DARA is a general-audience product and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child provided information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.
Changes to this policy
We will post an updated policy and effective date on this page. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice before it takes effect when required by law.
